My Ubuntu Guide

UBUNTU - Linux for human beings..........

And surely it is .For long linux(or Unix) have been considered as one for those extra technical geeky guys, and almost unusable for people layman . I got to know bout linux in my first year of engineering and it seemed very exciting and challenging . I started up experimenting with different distributions of linux ,and believe me i almost tried every flavour of Unix from fedora to slack , Damn small linux to solaris ..etc..etc..etc. With some help from my friend UJ i finally ended up using ubuntu .At first sight its GUI didnot generate much interest in me (cant compare GUI of linux with WINDOWS) .But after spending some days with ubuntu it seemed to me perfectly complementing its tagline .....Linux for human beings ..

Ubuntu ships with some great and important applications for daily use . It comes preinstalled with itunes like rhythem box music player, movie player ,sound recorder etc.It uses firefox as default webbrowser . For chat client it comes preinstalled with pidgin .Imagine being able to chat to your frnds ...one on google, other msn , third on yahoo ....simultaneously from the same place .Pidgin does this for you. There is Open office ,a good substitute for ms office .And these all r free.No body is going to charge u for a single penny.

There are so many things I can talk about ubuntu , but have to restrict myself to some specific things.Inspite of having one of the best GUI to work with in Linux, one can realise the real power of linux in command line . For all those budding techies and geeks , ubuntu offers a great chance of learning as it makes doing things so simple , and also supports with its excellent forums . Ubuntu forums are the most used forums in all linux distros , so u r bound to get all your queries resolved.

This was all a introduction to ubuntu ....

I will be updating it...........
