userinit.exe
Well i have seen many a people(esp. my hostel frnds ....itz for you ) confused by a thing called userinit.exe....what is it aactually? Is it a visrus or a windows process ?if its a virus then how to handle it .....huf......
let me give the formal description of it
(1) Userinit.exe is a key process in the Windows operating system. On boot-up it manages the different start up sequences needed, such as establishing network connection and starting up the Windows shell. This program is important for the stable and secure running of your computer and should not be terminated. This executable file resides in system32 folder .
(2) USERINIT.EXE :- This is the dreadful viruses haunting many .Technically its a trojan horse. Trojan.Coban2k is disguised as userinit.exe in the Windows folder .
Now the real thing ..how to remove the virus from the computer .I have seen many antiviruses not being able to detect userinit.exe (I m not offending any one ....).
Most of the people use winrar . So one way is using it . log into the system normally and using winrar browse to the windows folder .delete the userinit.exe file from it .
If that does not work ,try logging in safe mode and repeat the process. To goto safe mode press F8 at bootup to get windows boot menu and select safe mode
if that does not work too.well den the ultimate saviour is linux . take ubuntu live cd and boot into the system using livd cd . browse to the windows folder using nautilus(ubuntu counterpart of explorer) and delete the file.....
Hope this aritcle of help to you ......
